You're Invited!

This Thursday is our very first orchestra concert of the year, hosted at Mountain View High School. Spread the word! Invite your grandparents, neighbors, babysitters, and friends! There will be no cash sales available at the door, but tickets can be purchased at the box office by scanning the QR code (pending availability). If you or somebody you know would benefit from a free ticket, email me at johanna.nilsson@mvla.net.

The concert begins at 7pm and should conclude around 8:15pm, followed by an optional reception in the Student Services Building for all audience members and performers. As a reminder, performers are expected to remain for the entirety of the concert. A more detailed schedule for performers is included below. 

At this time, no parents have asked me to arrange a ride home for their students after the concert, so I am assuming everybody has it covered. If you need assistance arranging a ride home, please reach out to me as much in advance as possible. The LAHS classroom will not be open after the concert, so students will need to bring their instruments home and return them the following Friday or Monday before class.

Detailed Performer Info

All students will meet at Packard Hall at Mountain View High School at 4:00 PM with instruments, music folders, and concert attire. LAHS students will ride from LAHS in a bus (see full schedule below). We will have a combined rehearsal, conduct sound checks, and MVHS Leadership will lead bonding activities for both schools. Pizza will be provided (vegetarian options available), but if you cannot eat pizza due to allergies or don’t like pizza, please plan to pack a dinner. 

Doors open to audience members at 6:40 and the concert begins at 7:00. The concert will last anywhere between an hour and ninety minutes. Students are required to remain for the entirety of the concert. After the concert, MVHS will host a reception for all guests and student performers in the Student Services Building Dining Hall. Students will return home with their families after the event. LAHS students – please note there will be NO RETURN BUS so plan accordingly! 

Rehearsal Schedule:

2:45 LAHS Orchestra departs during 7th period on bus (chaperoned by Jo)
3:00 LAHS Orchestra arrives at MVHS - time to do homework, change into concert attire
3:45 LAHS Chamber departs after school on bus (chaperoned by Ms. Diez)
4:00 All MVHS and LAHS students meet in Packard Hall for Leadership-led icebreakers
4:15 Chamber rehearsal in Packard / Orchestra sound check on stage
4:45 Chamber sound check on stage / Orchestra rehearsal in Packard
5:15 Dinner - pizza provided. 
5:45 Change into concert attire
6:00 Leadership-led games in Packard
6:30 Group warmup in Packard
6:40 Doors open
6:45 Set for concert - Chamber in audience, String line up in Packard
7:00 Concert - MVLA String Orchestra, LAHS Chamber, MVHS Chamber, MVLA Chamber

We are two days away from Concert Day!

Reminder to please pre-purchase tickets if possible. We do our best to fit all audience members from both LAHS and MVHS into one theater, but this concert has sold out or gotten very close in the past several years and we'd love to avoid a last-minute crunch at the door. The MVHS box office is cash-free so the only way to purchase tickets at the door will be to scan the QR code that leads you to this link:
